Mindfulness in every moment is practical meditation. It leads to a state of mind, which is calm in every moment. This calmness, then leads to a state of higher bliss. Being in this moment and being in now is all we have. Being in the present moment is all that we have in our hands. Doing it happily and by feeling it, being in it and not worrying about what has happened already and is beyond our control, and, what is going to happen next, brings us the joy of being mindful.
Only that day dawns to which we are awake – Henry David Thoreau
Waking up every day, harmonizing ourselves with our surroundings and making every attempt in a positive way to be one with the universe, is the way to be. In our quest to find ourselves and understanding us in this realm of what we call our world is mindfulness. It wakes us up from our half-awake state of what we consider our conscious state. Once we start achieving, feeling, and experiencing these higher states of wakefulness, we start uncovering our potential, our possibilities and our successful events in this life and beyond.
We become slaves to what our mind dictates, in a particular situation. We feel sad, angry, tired, in pain and many other feelings which make the life not so pleasant. Mindfulness is the science and the art of learning to gain control over our mind in any given situation which is not under our control. Stresses in life will be there always, but our response to them is what can keep us on greener life paths. This is a state of peace for our mind, when we are in harmony and awareness of our surroundings. Accepting of what is coming on to us and by being in the moment, try our best to adopt a response which will bring a positive outcome.
Meditation is an ancient art and science which has been practiced and perfected by learned sages, yogis, artists, and musicians. It has stood against the tests of time and has been bringing relief from stressors and providing happier and more fruitful lives and now, has been scientifically proven to benefit us at various levels.
Mindfulness gives our mind the power to see, experience and make us feel to the fullest extent. It makes us lead our lives with wisdom. It is a path to raise our mind from an ordinary to an extraordinary state which will bring greater satisfaction and blissful harmony.
Our lives are made of ongoing moments which unfold themselves one by one and also in continuum. Any moment that we do not live mindfully is gone and would never come back. It is a way to a state of alertness with sharpened skills to not let any of these moments pass without our awareness of them. If negative, we would learn from them and if positive we would enjoy them. We would always be at a gain, whatever the shade of the present moment is, just if we be with it.
Being in now, helps us to unwind, uncoil, and get ourselves unstuck from the whirlpools that we stay swirling around, in our lives. Another aspect of mindfulness is to be nonjudgmental for others and more so for ourselves. It is an escape from our own thoughts, prejudices, our likes and things that we hate. The liberation from our own biased thoughts will give momentum to our flight towards awakening and empowered consciousness.
There is no wrong way to start on this path of mindfulness on to meditation and then towards the ultimate bliss.
There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting – Buddha
The path is the goal……..
